  1. That's crazy that even now they aren't teaching you RDA and FRBR. Even though there is growing dissent, it's still going to be the AACR3. After the years of work i doubt they're going to trash it! Keep in mind that FRBR and RDA are still being developed, so depending on where you do your research you may come up with not necessarily conflicting information but unfinished. Subclasses and subproperties are still fortrhcoming and I've had to redo projects because Diane Hillman changed something in the meantime. I'm not sure how much I know because I don't know the extent of the available information! It's really frustrating to search for answers to questions using the internet, only to have your own blog, where the question is posed, show up as the only result.

  3. Well, in the school's defence, they have re-jigged the curriculum to have three courses on information and metadata organization as opposed to only two, and I think my class is the last year to have the older schedule. It doesn't work out for me, but it will for the students in the future years.

Regardless, I'm at a bit of a loss on this subject unless I try to make up the ground myself (hence, studying, reading, and posting). Although I won't be looking for career options exclusively in metadata when it's all said and done, I want to make sure it remains a viable option.
